Abortion Is a First Amendment
  Religious Freedom Issue
.

If you haven't yet informed yourself of this fact, you'll  need to do so before the plan below will make any sense to you.  We invite you to read the following pages on this web site:

"How to Keep Abortion Legal".

"The Separation of Church and State".

"The Anti-abortion War Is About Money, Power,.

and Politics and Not About Saving Babies".

.

.

And we ask:  "How could abortion NOT be a religious issue?"  On the anti-choice side, there are:  1) the fundamentalist Christians,  2) the conservative Catholics,  3)  the hierarchy of the Roman Catholic Church, and 4)  the conspicuous absence of anybody who does not fit into the above three categories.

On the pro-choice  side, there is almost everyone else, including millions of open-minded Christians and the vast majority of those who acknowledge the universal spiritual principles..   For an inclusive list, please see the section titled:  For Whom Do You Speak?.

.

.

.

Why Are We publicly Challenging
    the Roman Catholic Church's Hypocrisy?

Because the men in charge of the  hierarchy of the Roman Catholic Church are the silent power brokers behind the anti-abortion campaign.   It's time we called them on their hypocrisy.   It's time we demanded that they practice what they preach.   It's time we demanded that the tell us the truth about God's conception magic act..    It's time to demand that all anti-abortion laws be based on factual evidence and not on religious fairytales..

.

.

.

Where is Their Hypocrisy:

We have only to examine the Catholic Encyclopedia to find the answer to that question.   The present Roman Catholic Church hierarchy claims that life begins at conception, but in their own encyclopedia, they admit that they don't know what life is or when it begins.

Wouldn't you think that if anybody would be able to tell us what the word "Life" means,  it would be the Roman Catholic Church?    They are, after all, the main power brokers behind the so-called "Pro-Life"  movement.   Let's go to the online, Catholic Encyclopedia. and look up the word "Life". and see what we find.**

** Click on this link if you have any concern that the Catholic Encyclopedia is not official Roman Catholic teachings.

.

They offer us a six-thousand, four-hundred, and fifty-four-word (6,454-word) dissertation on the meaning of this single word, and the definition of "life" is still not clear.   Here's their opening paragraph:

"The enigma of life  [the puzzle about what life is] is still one of the two or three most difficult problems that face both scientist and philosopher, and notwithstanding the progress of knowledge during the past twenty-three hundred years,  we do not seem to have advanced appreciably beyond the position of Aristotle in regard to the main issue.

What are its  [life's] characteristic manifestations?

What are its chief forms?

What is the inner nature of the source of [life's] vital activity?

How has life arisen?

Such are among the chief questions which present themselves with regard to this subject."

.

Where we would expect to find a definition of life, we find, instead,  a list of questions, and then they offer a six-thousand-plus-word dissertation, giving us opinions and theories going all the way back to Aristotle.   But what we don't find, is a clear definition of the word "life,"  and we don't find any answers to the questions they pose.

In spite of Roman Catholic Church's  public proclamation that life begins at conception, in the Catholic Encyclopedia (which they, themselves declare to be Catholic teachings)  there is no clear definition of what life is or when it begins.   In fact, they admit that they simply don't know.   Here's another quote from the final paragraph of this same 6,454-word dissertation:

"Having thus expounded what we believe to be the teaching of the best science and philosophy respecting the nature and immediate origin of life, it seems to us most important to bear constantly in mind that the Catholic Church is committed to extremely little in the way of positive definite teaching on the subject."

.

Are these the same people who are publicly proclaiming that every time a human egg and sperm unite, God steps in and, by an act of instantaneous, supernatural, transcendental magic,. transforms them into a brand new,  never-before-existing, separate, complete, eternal, everlasting, sovereign, human being?   Are these the same people who propose the use of police power to force everyone to live under the Catholic religious fairytale regarding when life begins.   Are these the same people who speak publicly about  supporting religious freedom?

In one breath, they tell us: 1)  that they don't know what life is,  2) that  life is one of the world's greatest mysteries,  3) that they don't know "how life has arisen" and 4) they don't know the "the inner nature of the source of life's vital activity."    And with the next breath, they defy God's own words in Genesis 2:7. of the Christian Bible and peddle an antiquated fairytale about God  being involved in a conception-magic act:  1)  as if it were a scientifically proven fact, 2) as if it were God's Divine Truth, and 3)  as if there were absolutely no other possibilities..

The story about God's conception magic act.  has absolutely no evidence to support it.    Even the United States Supreme Court could not find any research data or any factual evidence to support this belief.   It denies the religious freedom a million of Christians who believe the Christian Bible is correct when in Genesis 2:7. it clearly states that life begins with the first breath.   It flies in the face of billions (that's billions with a "b")  of people who believe that humans are eternal divine beings.

It originated somewhere in the neighborhood of fifteen to nineteen hundred years ago and has been handed down to us, unchanged for centuries.   It's the brain child of our ancient, superstitious ancestors who believed the Earth was flat like a three layered cake with God,  an angry, vindictive, fickle, superhuman being,  living on a cloud in the sky, Earth in the middle, and Satan in a hellfire-and-damnation  pit below their feet.   It's also the core belief. upon which the entire anti-abortion war is based.

The hierarchy of the Roman Catholic Church is right now, today, as you read this, pressuring senators, congressmen and other government officials  to create secular laws based on this unprovable fairytale.    They also endorse and encourage gun-toting government agents to enforce those laws, first by intimidation, and if intimidation doesn't work, the Roman Catholic church hierarch endorses sending men with guns and tear gas to your home to do whatever is necessary,  including  smashing down your front door with a battering ram, invade your private home with tear gas,  arresting you with handcuffs, and putting you in jail for refusing to live by secular laws based entirely on this religious fairytale.

Are these the same people who speak publicly about following the Bible and about supporting religious freedom?   Do these people even even know what the word "hypocrisy". means?

.

What can we make of this?
To anyone with a lick of common sense,  it's either
         religious insanity,
              intentional deception,
the makings of a disguised fascist police state,
                         or simply mindless gibberish.

Does the Catholic Encyclopedia represent official Roman Catholic teachings?  Here's your answer:

.

At the top of their web page they have a box about this size with advertising displays it.   The following sentence appears directly below the box.

"Please contact webmaster@newadvent.org if an ad appears here
that contradicts Catholic teachings."

And at the end of the document, the 2003, copyright notice includes John M. Farley, Archbishop of New York.   Thus, they clearly indicate that the Catholic Encyclopedia's website  text defining "life" represents [Roman] Catholic teachings.
