I believe in freedom of religion for everyone.   Do you?   [Have several supporters in the audience respond, “Yes.”]    I’ve asked some of my friends and supporters to closely examine the abortion controversy to determine if abortion is a secular issue that can justly be regulated by government law   OR   if it’s a religious issue that belongs in the various houses of worship   Their examination of the abortion controversy clearly shows that abortion is a First Amendment, religious freedom issue..  

___(name of the opponent)___ and the highly vocal, ultra-conservative, right wing minority that he represents would have you believe that abortion is not a religious issue.   But, his true intention is to force his religious beliefs about abortion and his religious beliefs about several other very personal issues onto you and onto everyone else by government laws.   

I personally hold strong spiritual connection to that source we commonly call God,  but my beliefs, like yours and like billions of others are different from his.   Unfortunately,  ___(name of the opponent)___ is attempting to drag the government into the religion-enforcement business.

The second thing that is important for you to know is that  The Anti-abortion War Is  About  Politics..   It's NOT  About Saving Babies!   If Mr. __opponent__ was concerned about saving innocent lives, he's be focused on the 40,000 innocent children who starve to death each day or die from curable diseases.  He's not.  Why not?   

Because Mr. __opponent__ is part of a conservative Christian Campaign to create that his handlers call "A Christian America.".   That is clearly a violation of the United States Constitution.   George Bush and Attorney General Ashcroft are two examples of their success.    Neither would be in office and neither would not be pushing the ultra conservative, right-wing, born-again-Christian, political agenda into government law without the religious support of men like __opponent__ . 

How about respecting religious freedom in America?   How about honoring every religion?   I support religious freedom and so does the United States Constitution.

__opponent__ calls himself "pro-life.   Let me ask you this.   If you were to spend millions of dollars fighting abortion rights and almost nothing to save the  40,000 innocent children who starve to death everyday would you call that Pro-life?  I certainly wouldn't.   __opponent__ may be pro-embryo, but he's certainly not pro-life.
