The true cost of the anti-abortion movement

Looking Under the Surface Illusions:

The abortion issue is filled with huge, hidden, long-term costs and a few, minimal, but very obvious, and highly emotional, immediate benefits.

An Example: Let's look at one of their success stories --- a woman who, because of the anti-abortionist's efforts, did not terminate her pregnancy. It's easy to see the baby in mama's arms, but it's difficult to see and understand the cost of saving that baby.

When you look at the anti-abortion movement as a whole, that baby is the product of thousands of dollars and countless of hour of labor on the part of participants in the anti-abortion movement.

What They're NOT Doing! And What They're Not Telling Us: In direct tangible terms, the would-be-do-gooders prevented that specific woman from intentionally terminating her pregnancy (inpreterm). In the mean time, they simply ignored (and still do ignore) numerous, major, local, national, and global level problems such as the fact that 40,000 already born children die each and every day for lack of food and basic medical care. For example, each year, anti-abortion activities result in hundreds of thousands of unhealthy, unwanted, babies being born prematurely with congenital birth defects from drug addicted mothers. The money required to keep just one these babies alive could have been used to save literally thousands of already born babies. Add up just the financial cost of caring for several thousand such babies and the price staggers the imagination. Not only that, a large percentage of these deformed babies die within the first two years, anyway.

When you add in the costs in terms of the lives lost, the labor misdirected, the poverty produced, and the resultant misery generated, the result is disgraceful and shameful. One might think that such works were quite the opposite of Godly.° Could our anti-choice friends be being duped by someone or something with evil intentions?°

No Follow Up: Our anti-choice friends are nowhere to be found when it comes to caring for all the children they force women to bring into this already overcrowded world.

Is Anti-abortion Really Pro-Life: Is it a pro-life act to save an embryo if a thousand already born children die in the process? If someone consumes the resources needed for their care of thousands of already born children and spends that money saving the life of a few human embryos, is that really pro-life? How can the anti-abortion activities be pro-life when they merely transfer death to other beings at other times and places?

If their real motivation was, as they claim it is, to save the lives of innocent children, then, they are doing a dismally poor job. The ant-abortion leaders may be pro-embryo, but the evidence clearly says that they are not pro-life!

The real Questions: Simple observation leads us to two conclusions:

A) The anti-abortion leader appear to be reasonably intelligent.

B) In terms of saving innocent lives, even an idiot can see that what they are doing doesn't make any sense.

This leads us to ask three questions:

1 Why are the forced-motherhood leaders doing what they are doing?

2 Why are they sacrificing the lives of thousands of already born children for every embryo they save?

3 Is there a hidden agenda, a motivation that they aren't telling us about?
Do they have some other objective in mind? What is their real motives?

The answers to these questions revolve around money° and political power:° But don't believe us. Examine the evidence for yourself:

a result of polluted water;

How can the forced-motherhood leaders possibly believe that forcing unwilling women to birth still more unwanted, unhealthy, children is a good thing? Death ten times greater than that of the 9-11-2001, World Trade Center disaster occurs every day, and the forced motherhood leaders simply ignore it.

Environment ...

The Environmental Costs:

u The anti-abortion leaders promote policies that result in the destruction of our forests and other natural resources.

u They promote policies that result in the creation of billions of tons of toxic wastes.

u Overpopulation° is already producing serious negative consequences on planet Earth. Overpopulation is causing the death and extinction of uncounted thousands of unique, irreplaceable life forms on Earth. **

** Scientists estimate that the extinction of plant and animal life on planet Earth is presently occurring at the rate of one species per hour.

In the face of irreplaceable species extinction, the anti-abortion leaders support and endorse policies, laws, and practices that result in the birth of still more babies and thereby aggravate an already critical environmental situation.

u A forest is far more than just a bunch of trees.° Technically speaking, a forest as an ecosystem in which trees are the largest and most obvious part of an intimately interconnected, bio-social, mutual-life-support system consisting of thousands of different life forms and billions of individuals, all sharing a common home.

Trees are a major source of oxygen and a major consumer of carbon dioxide. Trees stabilize out fragile topsoil. Trees also have a significant impact on our climate. Over the course of its lifetime, a tree transfers literally thousands of gallons of water from the soil into the atmosphere. Trees are the homes of the vast majority of life forms on this planet. In the tropics, a single, full- sized tree can be the home of several hundred different life forms and thousands of individuals.

And, each forest is a mini-ecosystem in the grander scheme of life. You and I and everyone else are part of a similar, but much larger ecosystem called planet Earth.

u With Arrogant Impunity, Humans are rapidly destroying what's left of our forests. Today in the United States with less than three percent (3%) of our virgin forests remaining, the chain saws are still running. At an incredibly rapid rate, the Earth's, irreplaceable, tropical rain forests are being turned into deserts. The Earth's savannas and grass lands are also being rapidly destroyed.

And in the face of an ecological disaster equaled only by the extinction of the dinosaurs, we have a bunch of mindless wood-be-do-gooders, forcing unwilling women to birth still more unwanted babies who will (simply by being) destroy even more of what's left of our environment.

And while denying the truth of Genesis 2:7 in their own sacred text, their entire proposal is based on a completely fabricated, unprovable fairytale about God performing an instantaneous, supernatural transcendental magic° act with every uniting human sperm and egg.

Overpopulation

Overpopulation is at the heart of every major problem facing humanity today. Overpopulation is aggravating all of the problems listed below and is making them much worse than they otherwise would be.

The Economic Costs:

u They promote policies that cost billions of your tax dollars.

u The anti-abortion leaders force unwilling drug addicts to produce unwanted babies results in millions of deformed babies. The social and economic cost of caring for these deformed babies is staggering. Many of these costs are born by the tax payers.

While the anti-abortion leaders spend
millions of dollars and direct others to spend
hundreds of thousand of hours saving embryos,

for lack of food, care, and basic medical assistance.

The Political and Social Costs:

u The cost in terms of stifling of free speech. The forced motherhood promoters are strangling freedom of speech and promoting political censorship;°

u The cost of inhibiting the distribution of birth control devices and birth control information;

u The cost of stifling sex education;

u The cost of inhibiting birth control research which could reduce or all but eliminate unwanted pregnancies and, thus, eliminate abortions;

u The cost of increased human violence that comes from promoting sexual repression;°

u The cost of ignoring the U. S. Constitution and destroying the separation of church and state;°

u The anti-abortionist leaders promote policies that result in the spread of AIDS and other sexually transmitted disease.

u They promote policies that force babies onto young women who are, themselves, only children.

u They promote policies that produce poverty, crime and drug abuse.

u The cost of forcing unwilling women to bear unwanted children;

u The cost of forcing women to produce more children than they can be possibly care for;

u The anti-abortion leaders work to close health care clinics and thus deprive women of vitally needed health care. This results in the spread of AIDS and other diseases and causes the birth and death of hundreds of thousands of hopelessly deformed or drug-addicted babies. It also causes the deaths of hundreds of thousands of adults.

u The anti-abortion leaders deny sexually active teenagers access to both sex education and birth control which results in:

u millions of unwanted pregnancies,

u millions of abortions,

u millions of cases of venereal diseases,

u hundreds of thousands of hopelessly deformed, drug-addicted babies,

u millions of cases of AIDS,

u millions of deaths from disease and starvation, and

u hopeless misery for millions more.

u The anti-abortion leaders cut off funds to the health clinics which serve desperate women in third-world countries simply because those clinics offers birth control information. (Reference: The Global Gag Rule.°) The resulting poverty, death, and misery is beyond anything we can imagine.

Is it possible that we could make better use of our time, money, and resources?

Grief Misery ...

The Social Costs (in terms of Grief and Misery):

u The cost of depriving financially destitute women of desperately needed health care;

u The cost of preventing stem cell research° simply because it involves the use of otherwise discarded fetal tissue and thereby causing the deaths of millions who would otherwise live and causing millions more from lives of pain and misery.

u They promote policies that result in misery for millions of children (and adults) by forcing them to live in abject poverty.

u They promote policies that produce child abuse.

u They promote policies that produce spousal abuse.

u They promote policies that result in the psychological devastation and the sexual violation of hundreds of thousands of innocent children.

u They promote policies that result in millions of children being abandoned and left to die or survive on their own.

u The anti-abortion leaders force third-world women to birth unwanted babies -- babies that they will have to abandon and leave to die because the family cannot care for still another child.

u Pro-choice supporters say that 200,000 women die each year from botched, illegal abortions. No-choice supporters say that number is excessively high. Even if it's only a 50,000 deaths, that's still 50,000 too many and 50,000 more than necessary.

Is it possible that we could make better use of our time, money, and resources?
