Sex or Violence—It’s an Either or Choice

Big D Your anti-abortionist friends are among the easiest of human beings to con because they rarely, if ever, think for themselves. They’re trained to believe and conform to whatever the church leader tells them. In their ardent anti-sexuality, they feed me most of my energy. If sexuality was left as a private matter, I'd do very little business. I’d even have trouble controlling and manipulating my war peddlers.

T.L.C. Why? What do you mean?

Big D Wherever sexual expression is repressed, physical or emotional violence erupts.

T.L.C. Why’s that so?

Big D Stoney, would you rather make love or make war?

T.L.C. Make love, of course.

Big D And so would almost everyone else. Without restricting sexual expression, the dominator-manipulators would find very few people willing to participate in making war. Most people simply want to be left alone to do as they choose.

T.L.C. So how are sex and violence related?

Big D In terms of expressing basic life energy, sex and violence are at opposite poles; that is, they’re opposite ways of expressing the same, basic life energy. Basic life energy is similar to a river in that you can divert its course, but you can't stop its flow. So in order to create chaos, I simply manipulate my do-do-doers into promoting sexual repression, and then The universal Law of Indestructible Energy does the rest.

T.L.C. Let me say this back to you and see if I’ve got it right.

Big D OK.

T.L.C. Are you saying that you’ve tricked the anti-abortionists into promoting sexual repression because it eliminates or greatly inhibits the expressing and sharing of love, joy, laughter, peace, happiness, contentment, bliss, etc.?

Big D Yup, I confess. It’s true. But, I’ve not limited my sexual repression ploy to just our anti-abortionist friends. I’ve fooled millions of others also!

T.L.C. I’m not at all surprised at that, but let me continue so I can be sure I’ve got this correct. You’ve peddled sexual repression and millions have bought your story.

Big D Yes.

T.L.C. And, as a result, many more millions of people are sexually unfulfilled.

Big D Yes.

T.L.C. And sexually unfulfilled people are less cooperative, less intimate, less loving, less creative, less tolerant of others, and much more willing to argue and fight, to kill each other, and to destroy things?

Big D Yes. For sexually deprived males, sex all too often becomes an issue of dominance, power, and control.

T.L.C. And this increases frustration, sadness, depression, sickness, disease, accidents, anger, hostility, and personal violence.

Big D Yes, again.

T.L.C. And this, in turn, promotes chaos, collective violence [wars] and a perpetuation of dominator-manipulator, totalitarian governments.

Big D Stoney, you've got it totally! I couldn’t have said it better myself. Apparently you've noticed the commonly expressed love affair between sexual freedom and political freedom.

T.L.C. And I’m also aware of the all-too-common, perverted copulation between sexual repression and dominator totalitarian politics.

Big D Your smart-ass talk is beginning to make me like you.

I let that remark go by as if I hadn't heard it.

Body Pleasure and the Origin of Violence

James W. Prescott, Neuropsychologist
Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists, p. 10, November, 1975.

"The neuro-psychologist, James W. Prescott, has performed a startling cross-cultural analysis of 400 pre-industrial societies and found that cultures that lavish physical affection on infants tend to be disinclined to violence. Even societies without notable fondling of infants develop non-violent adults, provided sexual activity in adolescents is not repressed. Prescott believes that cultures with a predisposition for violence are composed of individuals that have been deprived — at least during one of two critical stages in life, infancy and adolescence — of the pleasures of the body. Where physical affection is encouraged, theft, organized religion, and individual displays of wealth are inconspicuous; where infants are physically punished, there tends to be slavery, frequent killing, torture and mutilation of enemies, a devotion to the inferiority of women, and a belief in one or more supernatural beings who intervene in daily life.

We do not understand human behavior well enough to be sure of the mechanisms underlying these relationships, although we can conjecture. But the correlations are significant. Prescott writes: “The percent likelihood of a society becoming physically violent if it is physically affectionate toward its infants and tolerant of premarital sexual behavior is 2 percent. The probability of this relationship occurring by chance is 125,000 to one. I am not aware of any other developmental variable that has such a high degree of predictive validity.”

A logical conclusion from the above quote would be to seek further studies concerning the correlation between sexual repression and violence as part as part of the proposed "Outlawing-Abortion Impact Study." Why?

      1)   Because of the strong anti-sexual component
             of the anti-abortion movement,
      2)   because to the 2000-year-long, bloody history
             of conservative Christian violence,
      3)   because of these same anti-choice leaders tend to be arch supporters of
             military and police violence as a means of solving problems, and
       4) because the ant-abortion campaign is riddled with:

Intentional Deception:

Lies of omission (deceiving others by omitting the truth)

Peddling half-truths as if they were the whole truth,

Peddling half-lies as if they were the whole truth,

Distorting the truth,

Ignoring or distorting Biblical passages

Censorship of opposing views

Using inflammatory rhetoric,

Egocentric Chauvinism,

Political and sexual repression,

Heterosexual and homosexual hypocrisy,

Religious and racial bigotry,

Ignoring or distorting Biblical passages

Censorship of opposing views

Anti-social and Criminal Behavior:

Inciting to riot,

Sex and God

T.L.C. = The Interviewer Big D = The Devil, Himself

T.L.C. OK. What is the real purpose of sex?

Big D The sex drive is an automatic, natural, God-given, biological function of human physiology. It has two main purposes: first, to perpetuate the species and second, to express and share love, joy, laughter, happiness, contentment, bliss, etc. Some even say that orgasm gives them a glimpse of God.

T.L.C. How can sex give someone a glimpse of God?

Big D The attributes commonly used to describe the essence of God are the same attributes used to describe sexual sharing. I’ll say a list of words and you tell me which ones you would not apply to both sexual sharing and to God.

T.L.C. OK.

Big D Love, joy, laughter, gladness, happiness, contentment, delight, pleasure, ecstasy, bliss, rapture, exultation, satisfaction, beloved, unity, devotion, compassion, giving, caring, sharing, loyalty.

T.L.C. Every word applies to both.

Big D That’s correct. The eastern religions such as Buddhism and Hinduism are very sexual religions, while the religion preached by the American, fundamentalist Christians is extremely sexually restrictive.

T.L.C. Yes, I know. Buddhism, as well as being a very sexual religion, has never promoted a singe war in all of it's history. Christianity, on the other hand, is extremely sexually repressive and has spawned, promoted, and/or endorsed countless wars. Christianity has a 2000-year-long, bloody legacy of intolerance, intimidation and harassment, intentional deception, lies of omission, political and sexual repression, heterosexual and homosexual hypocrisy, religious and racial bigotry, egocentric chauvinism, oppression of women, political tyranny and subjugation, violence, vandalism, arson, and murder. Over the centuries, they murdered millions and peddled repression and misery to millions more, all in the name of God.

Big D The fundamentalists refuse to acknowledge that the attributes which are commonly used describe the essence of God are the same attributes used to describe sexual sharing.

Listen to the words that some of them equate with sex outside of their prescribed point of view: bad, wrong, evil, sinful, demonic, pornographic, work of the devil, original sin, and then, there’s my favorite line.

T.L.C. What’s that?

Big D “The slippery slope to hell.”

The anti-sexual Christians have sex and violence ass-backwards. They’ve made war all but a sacrament and sex a sin, and in many cases, even a crime. You’ve probably heard them praying and asking God to help them commit mass murder of those faceless, anti-Godly communists or of some other group that was temporarily labeled as the enemy?

T.L.C. Yes, but I’ve never heard them say, “Let’s have sex for God.”

Big D And you probably won’t either. They’re more likely to follow the puritan slogan, “make war, not love.” Some even consider sex to be the original sin which, according to their belief, makes every human being inherently evil.

T.L.C. OK, so now what? How do we get out of this box?

Big D I think you just said it.

T.L.C. Said what?

Big D The answer, in your own question, ”OK, so now what.” I just heard the answer spoken in your own words.

T.L.C. I still don’t know what you’re talking about.

Big D Did you or did you not just say, “Let’s have sex for God.”

T.L.C. Are you suggesting we have sex for God? Big D, sometimes you are so absurd it’s unbelievable.

Big D Yeah, I know. Don’t you just love it.

T.L.C. No!

Big D Come on, Stoney, play for just a bit.

T.L.C. OK, I’ll play. We have some illusions around sex. What do you propose as a remedy?

Big D Perhaps a little blasphemy would be a good place to start.

T.L.C. Here we go again.

Big D Yup! And you might even add a touch of humor.

Just imagine the reaction when one of the Sunday-morning preachers gets up on TV, and, instead of wearing a suit, this morning he’s wearing a T-shirt that has written right across the front of it, Cum for Christ. He then proceeds to preach:

”I talked to God this last night, and He told me that He wants you to bring more love into the world. Here’s exactly what He told me to tell you. The very next time you’re with your lover, Cum for Christ. And not only that, God wants you dedicate your next three orgasms to all those sacrificial virgins who lived and died without ever tasting the ecstasy or sexual love.”

T.L.C. Big D, you’re the king of Blasphemy.

Big D Yeah, I know.

T.L.C. Well, Big D, I suppose making love for God isn’t any more absurd than the Christian Slogan, “Kill a commie for Christ.”

Big D Stoney, bring your mind into this for a moment, please. What makes more sense, inviting a sacred blessing for the sharing love, pleasure, and passion, or asking God to help you commit mass murder of foreign men, women and children simply because their dominant males are ignorant of how the universe functions?

T.L.C. I’d rather pray about love.

Big D And does it make any sense to say that the temple of God must be hidden from view because someone might long for it.

T.L.C. I take it you are referring to the Christian belief that the human body is the temple of God?

Big D Yes.

T.L.C. Then, if you follow that belief to its logical conclusion, we should demand that church buildings, synagogues, and temples wear skirts and blouses.

Big D Does it make any sense to say that, as a creation of God, you are sinful simply because you’re human?

T.L.C. Only if God’s an idiot.

Big D Does it make any sense to claim the act of creating life is so shameful, sinful, and disgusting that it must be hidden from view?

T.L.C. No.

Big D The anti-sexual anti-abortionists allow their children to see pictures and watch films showing police violence, military violence, and criminal violence? They allow their children to see graphic pictures and films showing rape, robbery, kidnapping, torture, body mutilations, murder, serial killing, mass murder, and war?

They allow their children to read stories and see films describing embezzlement, extortion, deceit, treachery, and bold-faced lies while, at the same time, claiming that pictures showing the physical act of creating life (the ultimate act of love between two people) are obscene, degrading and pornographic?”

Does it make any sense to take the ultimate of human experiences, the act of sharing sexual ecstasy with your beloved, and demote that to the rank of “For-Procreation-Purposes-Only?”

T.L.C. That’s like owning a mansion and living in the basement.

Big D Does it make any sense to imprison the ultimate act of love and creation within the walls of guilt and shame?

T.L.C. That’s like going to a banquet and eating out of the trash barrel out back.

Big D So perhaps these beliefs might be the worthy targets of a little humor.

What’s the Purpose of Sex?

T.L.C. Yeah, I guess they are. I have another question regarding the connection between sex and God. Didn't "The Source of All That Is" create sex as pleasurable so people would be sexual?

Big D That's a very logical conclusion, because expressing the vital life energy through sexual activity has one of the two most significant and long-lasting consequences of any human act, The Creation of Individual Life.

T.L.C. But, we already have more people than we can deal with, so we don't want any more people, at least not now.

Big D Don't worry, I have my anti-sexual anti-abortionists working on reducing the human population by expressing that vital life energy through an alternative outlet.

T.L.C. Are you suggesting we reduce the human population by applying that other major consequential act, The Destruction of Life, and kill off a portion of those now living.

A Fifty Percent Tithe to War

Big D Exactly my point. You’ve probably noticed that the anti-abortionists are among the strongest supporters of government-imposed, police and military style violence against their supposed enemies. *** I've got my "War-Peddlers" and those they manipulate to demand that my dominator governments spend 50% of all the goods and services created on earth today for the development and manufacture of technologies and instruments of war. I then con my Would-Be Do-Gooder friends into using those weapons to destroy as much of the other 50% as possible.

*** For example, in just eight years, their favorite politician, Ronald Reagan, doubled the defense budget, increased the national debt by over 600%, (from 475 billion to 4,700 billion) gutted the government's social-service programs; invited the destruction of the two-hundred-year-old principle of separation of church and state; and, via the Iran-Contra Scandal, was probably directly responsible, or at least indirectly responsible, for the greatest threat to freedom and democratic principles since the demise of Adolph Hitler's Third Reich.⁺⁺

And yet, the anti-abortionists just love him. They think he is the greatest thing since horse-blinders. On one program in the series of MacNeil / Lehrer News Hour Specials discussing the significance of the 80's, (aired on PBS television during the last week of 1989) Jerry Falwell, creator and leader of the so-called "Moral Majority", credited Reagan as the one man most responsible for what Reverend Falwell calls "The Spiritual Rebirth of the 80's". He conveniently ignored the fact that it was also the era of the Reagan’s anti-sexual Meese Commission and intense government efforts at sexual repression.

Apparently Reverend Falwell thinks that raping our environment, gutting our social service programs, doubling the defense budget and putting us and our children into debt by another four trillion dollars is a return to moral values.

T.L.C. If we redirected all that creative capacity into creating tools for living, we could easily fill the needs of all humanity. Big "D," I don't mean to split hairs, but according to my research, the percentage of goods and services created that goes to war is only 47%.

Big D Look, being a smart-ass is my role so stop stealing my thunder, or I'll send Pat Robinson and Jerry Falwell after you!

T.L.C. Our Earthly environment is being so badly mistreated and so recklessly destroyed that it could even lead to human extinction.***

Obviously, we must balance human population with our ability to feed and care for ALL humans, but I don't see how this relates to killing people?

Big D AIDS, my neutron bomb, biological weapons, genetic manipulation, or a couple of other goodies from my bag of tricks could easily reduce your population and not destroy my "War-Peddlers" real estate.

T.L.C. You know, there is another way. We could balance the ratio of available goods and services with the human population by creating fewer people. We already have the technology to inhibit the reproductive consequences of our sexuality.

Big D Don't be so damned logical or I'll disappear in another ball of fire.

T.L.C. I suppose you'd prefer that humans stop having sex except for procreation?

Big D Right on again, Stoney. I've got my anti-abortionists working that angel, too.
