Who Do You Know?

Page Summary:

There are numerous very unique individuals whom we feel would almost certainly support our project in one way or another, if only we had the opportunity to communicate with them. This page explains how we intend to get beyond their gate keepers and actually contact them.

You may be able to assist us - - or perhaps you know someone else who can.

The Seven Person Link:

The distance between you and any other person in the world is only seven people. In other words, someone you know knows someone else who knows someone else who knows...

Keep that chain going and, according to sociologists, with only seven links, you can connect to anyone in the world, regardless of that person's status, occupation, or location. I don't know with absolute certainty that the chain is exactly seven people long. For some individuals, it may be only three people long and for others, thirteen, and in some cases, perhaps even more, but regardless of the exact number, the concept is certainly valid.

The Goal:

The Pro-Truth Team is intending to contact numerous unique individuals who we feel would almost certainly support our project in one way or another, if only they knew about it. We are referring to influential people such as politicians, celebrities, and business leaders who have an interest in this issue. See the list below: The People to Contact.

The Problem:

The problem is that these people are not directly accessible. Because of their high profile positions and because they are usually extremely busy, they have secretaries, door keepers and the like which keep most people from directly contacting or communicating with them.

Unfortunately, the Pro-Truth-Team does not have the connections required to get beyond their gate keepers. We've sent numerous message via various means to several specific individuals. We've sometimes received automated E-mails and return form letters, but, as far as we know, our communication has yet to reach any of them.

The Written Solution:

The Pro-Truth Team has devised a solution - - a way to contact these people. We are implementing three working plans and we invite you to participate in one, two, or all three of them.

Plan One: Send letters and an E-mails to every address we know of at which they might be reached. If enough of us do that, eventually this will attract their attention.

Plan Two: Use the seven-person-link concept. We are asking you to participate with us and contact some of the people you know. Ask your friends and associates who they know who might connect you to anyone they know who might get you closer to the person we are intending to reach. Once you actually reach the person we are intending to contact, deliver our message to them or introduce us so we can deliver the message ourselves.

Plan Three: Send letters and E-mails to anyone you can think of who might know or have a connection to the people we are intending to contact. For example, in order to reach a theatrical celebrity, you might contact his or her agent; to contact a sports star, you might contact someone who is in some way connected with his/her sports team; to contact a politician, you might contact one of his friends, or associates, or perhaps a relative.

We've created sample letters for each of the people we'd like to contact. Please participate with us by sending those messages to them (or write your own message and send it).

An Example of a Person to Contact:

In the early 1950's, Mr. Hefner created Playboy Magazine, and is still the most publicly influential person in the Playboy Enterprises. He, through Playboy, paid the legal costs for the 1973 Roe v Wade legal battle that legalized abortion in the United States.

It seems likely that he would in some way support the re-confirming of that legality by supporting the religious freedom approach to preserving abortion rights. We seek his public endorsement!

And we don't have year and a half to wait and the thousands of dollars that would be necessary to comply with the rules in order to seek support through the Playboy foundation. And even if we did, we'd be dealing with a bureaucracy and not an individual person. And besides, we seek his endorsement, not his money.

Examples of How to Contact People:

Since Mr. Hefner lives in the Los Angeles area, here are three local addresses. You might consider sending letters to all three addresses:

As you well know, Roe V Wade that you so generously sponsored is under serious attack by a dedicated and determined group of ultra-conservative, religious zealots. That attack can be countered and defeated by exposing and discrediting the false, self-righteous foundation on which the no-choice promoters are basing their entire anti-abortion campaign.

The Pro-Truth Team's website (http://www.pro-truth.net) explains in considerable detail a plan for doing that. I am contacting you to ask if you would consider the possibility of publicly endorsing the Pro-Truth program.

I understand that you have retired from direct involvement with such projects; however, your reputation as a leader in the battle for gender equality and for women's reproductive rights makes your endorsement extremely valuable. A few words from you could significantly advance the cause of reproductive freedom.

Please ask one of your staff to review the web site and verify our sincerity and the believability of the project. Reverend Coté is available by phone at any time and, because he lives in the Los Angeles area, could easily arrange to meet with one of your staff members to discuss this project in more detail.

Please consider the possibility of once more stepping into the limelight and once again endorsing women's reproductive rights. Thank you for your years of dedicated work. Thank you for considering this request. I await your response.

We seek the endorsement of former Presidents Bill Clinton's and Jimmy Carter, and former Vice President Al Gore. We also seek contact with several members of Congress and the Senate who are sympathetic to our cause.

The Spoken Solution:

As you well know, personal contact is far more effective than letters or E-mail. Because of this, we recommend using personal contact whenever feasible. Simply follow the steps listed above, but rather than using letters, or the Internet, make your contacts in person or by way of the telephone.
