Before coming to any "carved-in-stone" conclusions around the abortion issue, we would do well to consider all the known factors involved.   We need to consider the environmental, the social and the political contexts in which we live.   We need to consider the long-term consequences of our actions.

We need to reconsider a long list of cherished illusions and assumptions.   We need to re-answer such questions as:  What is the purpose of government?   What is the purpose of religion?   How do the two interrelate?   We need to consider relating in a cooperation-partnership mode instead of our current dominator-manipulator mode.   Those on both sides of this issue need to look at the people on the other side of this issue as fellow humans with a different point of view.

The vast majority of those strongly advocating either side in this controversy are very caring and loving human beings.   Because both sides are "the good guys" and have honorable intentions, all of us need to look at everyone else as fellow human beings, some of whom, simply hold different points of view.

Please avoid blindly accepting anything you see, hear or read, here or elsewhere, simply because someone says so, regardless of his or her title, position, reputation, etc.   On the other hand, it is equally foolish to reject another's point of view simply because it does not substantiate your own opinions, fixed impressions, and beliefs about reality.   Remember, reality is whatever reality is regardless of what any of us believes it to be. 

Look for yourself at the evidence here and elsewhere.   Accept what fits for you right now and then trash the rest.   If it is truth, if it is meant for you and you've just trashed it, that's okay.   It will come around again.   On the other hand, if the same message has come to you several times from several sources, you would probably do well to listen this time.  

When reading these books, temporarily suspend your beliefs and disbeliefs and simply hold all ideas presented as the working hypotheses.   Don’t take anything offered to you as either true or false.

Open your mind and entertain the possibility that there could be more in the universe than you are presently aware of.   Apply the beginner’s mind.^[1]*   Do this by looking at the ideas that make no sense and neither accept nor reject them.   Just be with those ideas and see what happens.   Examine the evidence, then go into your own heart and draw your own conclusions.   Hold your conclusions not as “THE TRUTH”  but rather as a “most probable reality.”   

And, if and when a theory doesn’t prove out, don’t bother or take the time to tell yourself how stupid you were for not seeing it’s flaws.   Simply let this new knowledge expand your awareness and move.   That way you can change your mind as often as you like and never ever be wrong.

We recommend beginning by reading “An Interview with The Devil;”  however, there is no specific beginning and no specific end to understanding what is being presented here.   Your understanding of each piece of this issue is relative to your understanding many other pieces.   Although reading through these books once will provide you with a basic understanding of the concept, in re-reading sections of these books you will find things that were overlooked before or that are now seen in a grander context and thus have a different meaning than they did on your first reading.  

Look for new ways to fit the pieces together.   Notice how what you already know sometimes gets in the way of finding the truth.   Become aware of your emotions.   Which thoughts and ideas make you feel good?   Which make you feel bad?   Notice how the same thing looks very different from different points of view.  

Ask yourself, “Are my beliefs and the action that I may take as a result of my beliefs always within the context of what is right, wise and just for all concerned in the long run?”   Ask yourself, “Is my truth right in my heart when viewed from a Divine perspective?”

Stop reading and look around you.   Take a careful mental note of everything you see.   Get up now, please, and go the other side of the room.    Turn around and look again.   What do you see now?   Now lie down on the floor and see the room from your pet’s perspective.   What do you see now?   It’s the same room, so why does it look so different?   Life is like your room.   From the different vantage points (from different beliefs and attitudes)  the same thing has different appearances.

These same varying perspectives apply to everything in life including intentionally terminating a pregnancy.   Humans have a tendency to apply their own meanings and significances to whatever they experience and then say that their perceptions, perspectives, and interpretations and are the only correct ones.

Here’s another perspective to consider.   Nothing is always good.   Nothing is always bad.   Actually, from a grander perspective nothing is ever bad or good.   Everything just is.

Although the books at times may seem to wander off into seemingly unrelated issues, please be assured that these side trips are intentional and will later be seen as relative to the abortion controversy.   These side issues are included, first, because some of you may not be familiar with these perspectives; second, because they take you outside the commonly accepted ways of looking at thing;, and third, they offer unusual perspectives, choices and options.

This work is written in loving concern for the well-being of all of us, including our descendants. 

There are three mutually exclusive philosophic theories about the afterlife:  1)  Atheism -- one life on Earth and then nothing,  2)  Reincarnation -- a series of lives on Earth,  and  3)  Religious One-life-ism --- One  life on Earth and then heaven or hell forever (as it seems that most anti-abortionists believe).^[1]*

      If the philosophy involving reincarnation should, in future time, prove to be the correct theory, our descendants could turn out to be none other than you and me.  With that as a distinct possibility, I would like to create a society in which any future role that I might choose to play is an acceptable one.
